I am a small and speedy sighthound
A coursing event is where I can be found

If you clock me I will be doing well over thirty
Routinely I’m bathed and groomed so I don’t get dirty

At times I might either bark or growl
If I don’t get my way I will show my scowl
I’m a whippet so I don’t believe in throwing in the towel

I’m known to keep everyone on their toes
I play with reckless abandon so anything goes
Not paying attention to me will add to your woes

I like to find a good place to lie in the sun
After a restful nap I go looking for some fun
Raising chaos and then settling down is when I’m done

I enjoy wallowing in the limelight
Prancing and dancing to everyone’s delight

Even though I look like I’m maintenance free
I expect to be waited on in the highest degree
Living the high life is the luxurious lifestyle for me

Sometimes I’m compared to a king or a queen
I am catered to like any other royalty has ever seen
